Commercial Lines Rating Specialist – Hybrid MA, MI & VA Opportunity A leading Property & Casualty Insurance Company, recognized for its rich history and collaborative environment that fosters development and growth, is seeking talented individuals for multiple Rating Specialist roles to join its Commercial Lines Service Operations team on a temp-to-hire basis. Location & Schedule States: Massachusetts (MA), Michigan (MI), and Virginia (VA) Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days per week in the office). Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm during training (approx. 4–5 months), with potential to move to 9:00 am – 5:30 pm afterward. Start Date: 2/27/2026 Position Overview: The Role of a Rating Specialist As a Commercial Lines Rating Specialist, you are the cornerstone of policy issuance, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery for small and middle-market commercial accounts. You'll use your expertise to determine the correct premium for commercial risks and process subsequent transactions. Work completed by these individuals must meet quality and service standards. Education: Associate degree preferred, but not required. Attitude: Demonstrates a “do it right the first time” attitude and takes pride in producing a professional work product. Skills: strong written and verbal communication skills , technology proficiency in MS Office Suite , and the ability to recognize discrepancies in data/information and proactively resolve them. Policy Issuance: Complete timely and accurate issuance of Commercial Lines (CL) policies, quotes, endorsements, and subsequent transactions. Transaction Types: Rate and issue a variety of transactions, including new business, renewals, quotes, endorsements, non-renewals, rewrites, cancellations, crits, report values, and/or the registry for small and middle market business for multiple regions. Underwriting Partnership: Interpret issuance and rating instructions from CL Underwriters and partner with them to deliver a timely and accurate product for customers, agents, and insureds. Service & Support: Provide customer service support for agents and insureds by handling various inquiries, resolving errors, and requests. Compliance: Stays current with changing conformance or compliance issues, as well as procedural, system and/or workflow changes.
