Job Description Job Description Summary A Pre-K (Preschool or
Pre-Kindergarten) Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing
and educational environment for young children typically aged 3 to
5 years old. Pre-K teachers play a pivotal role in a child's early
development by fostering social, emotional, cognitive, and physical
growth. They create a structured and engaging curriculum to prepare
children for kindergarten while ensuring their safety, well-being,
and individualized growth. Duties Curriculum Development: Create
and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that promote early
learning in areas such as literacy, numeracy, science, and social
skills. Develop a balanced curriculum that includes play-based and
hands-on activities to enhance cognitive and motor skills.
Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, orderly, and organized
classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage classroom
behavior and encourage positive social interactions among students.
Individualized Learning: Assess the developmental needs and
progress of each child, adapting teaching strategies accordingly.
Provide one-on-one support to children with special needs or those
requiring additional attention. Parent Communication: Establish
regular communication with parents or guardians to share updates on
children's progress, activities, and development. Conduct
parent-teacher conferences to discuss goals, achievements, and
areas for improvement. Health and Safety: Ensure the health and
safety of all students by following health guidelines, maintaining
cleanliness, and responding to medical needs as necessary.
Implement emergency procedures and drills to prepare for unexpected
situations. Creative Activities: Organize creative and artistic
activities, such as arts and crafts, music, and storytelling, to
stimulate imagination and self-expression. Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with other teachers and support staff to plan
school-wide events, activities, and professional development.
Continuous Professional Development: Stay updated on current best
practices and educational trends in early childhood education
through training, workshops, and professional development
opportunities. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood
Education or a related field (required). State-issued teaching
certification or licensure (varies by location). CPR and First Aid
certification (often required). Strong communication and
interpersonal skills. Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for
working with young children. Ability to adapt teaching methods to
individual learning styles. Knowledge of child development
principles and early childhood education techniques. Background
check and fingerprinting (often required). Immunization records and
health screenings (often required). Teaching experience in a Pre-K
or early childhood setting (preferred). Nice To Haves Bachelors
degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study with
a minimum of 30 credits in ECE. Childhood Development Associate
