Reports directly to the Automation and Engineering Manager

Job dimensions

Provides process / project engineering support to maximize operational efficiency and process safety. Continuously identify, evaluate, and implement opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, cost, and capacity.

Key A ctivities and responsibilities

Direct Plant Support (40%)

  • Supports continuous improvement efforts related to reliability, technical excellence, fixed cost reductions, variable cost reductions and plant OAU
  • Collects data, including data not readily available, identifies improvement strategies and tracks key performance indicators for variable cost improvement and waste reduction projects.
  • Prepares and executes Management of Change documentation; develops associated training documents and plans. Acts as a resource to the MOC process by participating in risk assessment and completing various engineering calculations.
  • Contributes to managing plant assets, expense projects and asset utilization initiatives.
  • Works with Operations department to identify and evaluate improvement opportunities. Technical Support (40%)
    • Provides technical plant support in specialized areas including modeling, risk analysis, process chemistry and process technology.
    • Participates in Process Hazard Analysis and Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews for projects & processes.
    • Evaluates and implements process safety improvements, including recommendations from risk analysis activity.
    • Prepares and updates process safety information and other process documents. Periodically evaluate management of change documentation for completion.
    • Manages incident investigations, Root Cause Analysis and develops effective corrective actions as appropriate
    • Collects and maintains data to support CSR efforts and regulatory compliance data. Project Work (20%)
      • Manages and/or assigned capital projects for product development, safety, and process improvements; and budgets and project records. Develops early stage project technical and engineering ASAP deliverables including PFDs, mass and energy balances, layout, cost estimates, engineering feasibility and bid packages.
      • Provides field support for construction projects to safely execute safe work permits.
      • Identifies technology gaps, improvement opportunities and potential liabilities of plant for future project planning.
      • Leads and interacts with internal/external technical resources as needed to complete projects.
      • Leads project commissioning and start up activities for process changes and new technology.
      • Supports plant reliability projects. C ontext and environment
        • Supports the site HESQ policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
        • Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
        • Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents Required Education/Q ualifications /Work experience
          • BS in Chenical Engineering and 7+ years manufacturing experience
          • Six sigma certification and/or experience in Lean Six Sigma Operational Excellence implementation preferred
          • Experience in Process Hazard Analysis using LOPA Technique
          • Accident and Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis
          • Advanced MS Office Skills; SAP experience desired. Demonstrated Competencies

            • Proven ability to innovate and improve upon existing practices and technology.
