Job Description Job Description A Packaging engineer designs
product packaging to ensure product integrity and appeal under
varying shipping and display conditions. Tests, analyzes, and
selects materials for packaging based on durability and cost
effectiveness. Being a packaging engineer helps ensure packaging
complies to with all regulations. Uses and wears PPE correctly,
knows the company safety procedures and the regulation for the good
maintenance of common work areas. Essential Functions Know and
respect the company Quality System, able to consult existing
documents and compile them according to the indications of ISO
13485. Collects the information necessary for the development of
the prototype or production possibly through direct contact with
the customer; where he/she deems it necessary, he/she suggests to
the customer different types of design of the product packaging in
order to guarantee the full feasibility of the processing, its
quality, repeatability and cost saving. Defines the processing
methods, taking into consideration the problems inherent in the
technologies process, the optimization of production costs and
equipment costs. Designs simple equipment required for handling and
machining parts and manages suppliers, involved in the construction
of such equipment. Prepares production plants and machinery,
through appropriate programming languages, so that the prototype or
part is manufactured to specification. Estimate the costs both for
the creation of prototypes and for mass production, providing the
company the data necessary for the preparation of commercial
offers. Drafts the necessary documentation (packaging cycle,
marking sheets, label documents) in order to guarantee the
compliance of the processing with respect to the Quality Plan.
Defines and inserts the standard production times into the
management system, verifying the compliance of the times finalized
with those estimated and theoretical, introducing any corrective
actions in case of discrepancies. Implements the agreed improvement
actions regarding the quality of the pieces, even for the
externally supplied components, the resolution of non-conformities,
the reduction of production times and costs. Collaborates with the
department heads in the training of packaging production personnel,
to ensure correct execution of the processing cycles. Technically
supports production in case of problems, monitors progress of the
works and, in the event of delays with respect to the estimated
timescales, identifies and implements corrective actions. Drafts,
executes and compiles validation protocols and operating
instructions to ensure that parts and products conform to the
desired characteristics. Development and installation of new
systems, equipment and start-up of new production sites, technical
support to other group companies coordinating the internal
functions companies and external suppliers so that the development
of projects takes place in compliance with the objectives in charge
and in compliance with the agreed deadlines. Supervisory
Responsibility None Work Environment This job operates in a
manufacturing environment. The individual will be required to
adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing
floor. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job,
the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is
frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or
feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally
required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or
crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10lbs
and occasionally lift and or move up to 50lbs. The employee must
have the ability to work in all the production areas. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, at least 8 hours of work per day
Monday thru Friday, some overtime as business needs change. Willing
to work flexible shifts, overtime, and weekends, if necessary.
Travel Minimal to no travel Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's or specialist degree in science (Engineering, Physics,
Biology, Chemistry) Knowledge bases of technical drawing,
SolidWorks, skills in the field of materials and packaging
