Job Description:

The Chief Risk Officer is responsible for ensuring the Bank maintains an adequate and effective Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program thus ensuring the Bank is in full compliance with all banking laws, rules, regulations, and internal policies, procedures, and processes.Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Scale and adjust the risk function as the banking landscape and risk environment continues to advance.
  • Build and test risk models for all areas of the Bank.
  • Understand the Bank's business and operations to properly conduct effective ERM through evaluation, improvement, and monitoring.
  • Develop, implement and execute regulatory requirements and strategic projects in all areas pertaining to risk identification and assessment, risk tolerance, risk aggregation and risk governance and organization.
  • Work closely with the Bank's Chief Compliance Officer and various branches and departments in identifying, defining, and remediating various risk-related issues in attaining established compliance goals as directed by the Board of Directors and Senior Management.
  • Originate and implement risk management methodologies for the development and maintenance of risk tolerance statements, risk mandates, and risk scorecards implemented at the Bank for administrative, lending, payments, operational and compliance functions of the Bank,
  • Ensure Bank's activities remain aligned with the established risk tolerance and changes in profile, and work with management on governance and compliance initiatives related to Bank-wide policy limits, requirements and thresholds.
  • Ensure the adequacy of internal controls, assists branches and departments to meet requirements of Bank policy, FDIC, Federal Reserve, FFIEC, OCC, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Effectively communicate, advocate, and proactively advance the principles, values, strategy, and priorities of the Bank, bringing managers and leaders along in their understanding and ability to align and execute accordingly.
  • Ensure that all financial and non-financial risks are measured and managed appropriately, with a special focus on strengthening the operational risk management capabilities of the team and firm.
  • Build out more effective programs related to monitoring and testing of all risks throughout the Bank.
  • Continue to develop the Risk function to strive for best practices across policy, oversight, and execution.
  • Continue to build a data-driven and metrics-based approach to risk management.
  • Partner with colleagues within the Bank and throughout the Federal Reserve System as well as with external stakeholders to identify and address business needs.
  • Provide the highest quality service and execution of operational responsibilities and ensure that all governance and control requirements are achieved to the highest standards.
  • Create a robust and sustainable risk program that engenders support and promotes learning, continuous evolution, and an enterprise view of the Banks risk profile.
  • Advise on matters pertaining to the Banks risk and controls, best practices, and risk appetite.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry and technology trends, seizing opportunities and managing risks in appropriate balance.Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor's Degree or above in Banking, Finance, or related field.
    • 7+ years of Banking or finance experience required.
    • 3+ years of management experience required.
    • Track record of implementing effective and efficient operational risk management practices.
    • Payment processing experience required.
    • Skilled with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and related software applications.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Well organized; ability to multitask; attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize and work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
    • Must be able to work in a team environment and adapt to change.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, high production, professional environment.
