Job Description:
The Senior Product Manager oversees a team of direct reports
within the area of product ownership. Serves as a primary point of
contact for external and internal customers across multiple
departments/divisions, institutions, and employees. Performs other
duties as assigned or directed to meet the goals and objectives of
the organization and the department.St. Jude is seeking a Senior
Product Manager, preferably with a background in bioinformatics or
life sciences, to lead the development and execution of product
strategies for key scientific and data-sharing initiatives within
the St. Jude Cloud project. This position plays a pivotal role in
driving the success of multiple applications designed to facilitate
large-scale pediatric cancer data sharing, research collaboration,
and data visualization. As a product manager, you will partner with
scientists, bioinformaticians, and engineers to deliver innovative
tools and platforms that empower the scientific community. Your
work will directly contribute to advancing pediatric cancer
research through improved data accessibility and product
usability.Position Responsibilities:
- Bring product discovery techniques to bear to ensure we're
building the right products that solve real problems our users
have.
- Perform regular user interviews for users coming from a variety
of different backgrounds to learn more about our target
audience.
- Develop a product roadmap and release schedule for applications
within the St. Jude Cloud ecosystem.
- Work with an interdisciplinary team of product managers,
product designers, software engineers, and scientists to ensure
that features are built correctly.
- Design training modules, courses, or documentation related to
St. Jude Cloud products.
- Willingness to learn other domains that are relevant to
creating products in this space, particularly biology,
bioinformatics, and software engineering.
- Remain current in and actively contribute to the evaluation and
adoption of new techniques and methods within bioinformatics,
software engineering, and product development.
- Serve as a resource for staff for questions about the product
development discipline while continuing to actively grow in product
development domain knowledge.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the goals and
objectives of the department and institution.

- Can occasionally use domain knowledge to assess quality of
data/results at a coarse level.
- Adept at applying all technologies routinely used, while
adhering to best practices
- Experience with product development and analytics
toolsPreferred:
- Some experience with coding or visualizations (e.g., R, Jupyter
Notebooks, Plotly)
- Understanding of genomics, bioinformatics, or other related
scientific fields
- Startup or small team experience with flexible roles
- Experience with product analytics toolsMinimum Education and/or
Training:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science,
information science, business, or related field.
- Master's degree preferred.Minimum Experience:
- Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of
experience required.
- Experience Exception: Master's degree with 1+ years of
experience.
- Experience with programming languages, databases, and software
development lifecycle.
- Experience with the position-specific technical stack
preferred.
- Experience with the position-specific scientific domain
preferred.
- Proven performance in earlier role/comparable
role.CompensationIn recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal
pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate
of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate
offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into
account factors that are considered in making compensation
decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and
training, licensure and certifications, and other business and
organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be
hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation
decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each
case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $86,320
- $154,960 per year for the role of Senior Product Manager.Explore
