POSITION SUMMARY The supervisory position is expected to provide assistance to the Operations Manager. The primary responsibilities of the Production Supervisor include directing job assignments and ensuring that the facility safety and housekeeping standards are met. This position is responsible for conveying a professional attitude towards other employees while recognizing the responsibility to meet production schedules and customer commitments. ESSENTIAL POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and execute the production schedule, providing supervision and direction to the Manufacturing Team and Team Leaders. Allocate resources to ensure minimum downtime and completion of scheduled activities. Prioritize and manage workload to ensure assignments address the objectives of the company, department, and customers. Oversee and maintain safety practices in accordance with safe operations and in compliance with company policies. Supervise and assist in the training of production processes. Provide training, guidance and coaching to employees in a consistent and constructive manner. Communicate shift activity to personnel and keep them informed of the changes to equipment, processes, and materials / supplies. Monitor the efficiency and quality of all production jobs. Review goals daily and identify root cause if goal was not obtained, report findings. Assist in running and troubleshooting production jobs. Oversee line flush, off-spec, and off-grade materials and rework materials according to rates issued by the quality control group Review production records for completeness and accuracy. Review and approve timecards for direct reports as assigned using ADP software. Manage employee conduct or performance problems and be able to develop, coach and council employees as needed Communicate and ensure compliance with all policies and procedures including OSHA, PSM, DOT, environmental rules, regulations, and company policies and maintain appropriate records Investigate and resolve employee issues. Lead investigation of safety/environmental incidents, production, and quality problems Define, prepare, and analyze production reports Other tasks, duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager. REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience 5+ years supervisory experience of operations in a chemical processing environment preferred Strong problem solving and attention to detail and organization Ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously and set priorities to meet deadlines on schedule Ability to influence others and work within cross-functional teams to make responsible decisions Exceptional written, verbal and presentation communication skills; proficiency in MS Office Suite including SAP or similar program preferred Possess a high tolerance of ambiguity and flexibility with respect to job functions and working hours in a dynamic, fast-paced environment Experience with hazardous materials, or safety background is preferred Must have a thorough knowledge of manufacturing operations (reacting, blending, and packaging), equipment usage, and setup procedures Considerable knowledge of safe work practices, OSHA, DOT, and Environmental rules and regulations Superior problem-solving abilities PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift 25 pounds individually and up to 50 pounds in tandem, as necessary. Ability to sit and stand for up to 8+ hours a day in a manufacturing environment.
