Operations Leader

Reports to: Store Leader

Pay Type: Salary (Exempt)

Purpose:

The Operations Leader (OL) is a key member of the Store Leadership Team, working in tandem with the Store Leader to enhance overall store performance. This role encompasses leading the freight flow process, supervising backroom operations, ensuring compliance with markdown policies, and acting as Leader on Duty (LOD) when necessary. The OL plays a pivotal role in team development, focusing on selling merchandise, customer service, and realizing the company's vision. In the Store Leader's absence, the OL assumes store leadership responsibilities, balancing hands-on tasks with team oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

Store Performance and General Operating Requirements:

  • Collaborate with the Store Leader to achieve financial targets and key metrics.
  • Analyze company reports to optimize efficiency and identify improvement areas.
  • Manage team member scheduling to align with business goals.
  • Direct and prioritize team activities to maximize productivity.
  • Uphold company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Undertake special assignments as directed by the Store Leader.
    Leadership and Development:

    • Lead and supervise team members in designated areas.
    • Coordinate staffing, including recruitment, selection , and training.
    • Facilitate effective onboarding for new hires.
    • Regularly assess, coach, and provide feedback to team members.
    • Identify and nurture high-potential employees.
    • Promote a respectful, values-driven work environment.
    • Implement open communication and action team member feedback.
    • Recognize achievements and address issues in line with company values.
      Merchandise Flow and Markdown Management:

      • Manage the receipt and processing of incoming goods.
      • Expedite freight flow to the sales floor within set timeframes.
      • Ensure proper handling of disposal merchandise.
      • Oversee backroom operations and maintain cleanliness.
      • Implement markdowns according to company standards.
        Customer Service:

        • Exemplify the company's service standards.
        • Guide the team in providing efficient, friendly service.
        • Enhance customer experience and resolve service issues.
          Leader on Duty Role:

          • Manage store opening and closing procedures.
          • Provide leadership and direction in the Store Leader's absence.
          • Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
          • Oversee Front End operations when acting as LOD.
            Loss Prevention and Safety:

            • Safeguard company assets and report discrepancies.
            • Train team members in Loss Prevention and store shrink goals.
            • Maintain a safe and secure shopping environment.
            • Assist in store's LP self-audit and inventory processes.
            • Ensure customer and team member safety, including accident prevention and reporting.
              Job Qualifications:

              • High School diploma; Post-Secondary degree/diploma preferred.
              • Experience in retail store management with proven results.
              • Proficiency in Team Leader-Softlines and Hardlines roles.
              • Strong leadership, multitasking, and decision-making skills.
              • Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities.
              • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
              • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
              • Proficiency in various store operations tools and equipment.
                Additional Requirements:

                • Valid Driver's License.
                • Occasional bank visits for deposits; travel to meetings or other stores, sometimes requiring overnight stays.
                • Minimum 45-hour work week; flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
                • Full-time position requiring open availability.
