Job Description:
Job Summary: The Simulation Operations Technologist (“Sim Tech”)
supports and assists the Director of IPE and Simulation Education
Center (“Director”) in the management, logistics, scheduling, and
organization of simulation events at Baptist Health Sciences
University. The Sim Tech coordinates with the Director to assure
that all simulation events are effectively scheduled, planned,
organized, staffed, and supported. Under the general supervision of
the Director of IPE and Simulation Education Center. The Sim Tech
is a part-time role, scheduled between 24 and 31 hours per week.
Occasional evening and weekend shifts may be required based on
operational needs. Job Responsibilities: - Cleaning, maintaining
and repairing all simulation equipment, including: patient
simulators, computers, monitors, task trainers and other simulation
equipment. - Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and contact
vendors as needed. - Collaborate with Director and other faculty to
organize, maintain and restock skills labs across campus and
simulation laboratory supplies. - Provide technical support for
task trainers and multimedia peripherals including:
Beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, medication
dispensing systems, vital sign monitors or other equipment. -
Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for
simulation scenarios as requested. Mix simulated body fluids and
create wounds. - Provide technical assistance, support and training
to faculty, instructors and staff in use of simulation equipment. -
Provide technical support for manikins, task trainers, Immersive
rooms and other simulation equipment. - Conduct annual inventory,
cleaning and maintenance on simulation supplies, manikins, task
trainers and other materials. - Organize, maintain and operate the
University Central Supply area and acquire supplies from industry
partners. Distribute and collect supplies as requested. - Ability
to effectively interact and communicate on a professional level. -
Expands the field of healthcare simulation and BHSU’s visibility by
networking and collaborating with technicians at peer healthcare
simulation programs. - Serves as an ambassador of BHSU’s simulation
program at local and regional simulation meetings/conferences. -
Perform related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or
directed. Minimum Qualifications: - AA/AS degree in Computer
Science, Biotechnology or EMT-Basic or other health related field.
- Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new skills,
including complex medical terminology, simulation manikins,
specialized equipment, and medical supplies. Desired
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s (BS) degree in a Health-Related Field,
Computer Science, or Management Information Technology. - AA/AS
degree with at least 3-years related experience or the equivalent
in a health-related field or biotechnology. - Knowledge and
experience with a variety of manikins, task trainers, AI, computer
hardware and software applications and other simulation platforms.
- Knowledge of general clinical areas, medical equipment, universal
precautions, disposal of hazardous waste, audiovisual equipment,
and communication technology. - Possess strong organizational
skills with effective prioritization. - Familiarity with audio and
recording systems. - Knowledge of medical terminology and human
anatomy/physiology. - Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations
Specialist® (CHSOS®) certification
