The VP/CNO III is responsible for leading, planning, organizing
and directing the overall operations of Nursing Services for the Le
Bonheur Children's Hospital. Has accountability for developing and
implementing standards of nursing practice to ensure delivery of
quality patient care standards. Assists in formulating the budget
and maintains efficient and effective departmental operations and
required compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations
laws, standards, and protocols. Collaborates on development and
implementation of system-wide nursing initiatives. VP/CNO III is
based on the overall characteristics of the assigned facility(s)
(Net Revenue, FTEs, complexity, teaching). Models appropriate
behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.
Education/Formal Training Work Experience
REQUIRED: Master’s degree or higher in Nursing
Masters degree in Healthcare Administration or Business (MHA or
MBA) AND Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN)
Extensive Children's Hospital clinical nursing and management
experience with a minimum of seven (7) years’ in a nursing
leadership role. Registered Nurse with license to practice in the
state where work is performed, or compact license.
PREFERRED: Nursing management experience in an academic medical
center. Experience in Magnet facility and involvement in the magnet
process Board Certification
Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing
and hospital administration. Extensive experience working with
physicians and clinicians.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and issues in pediatric
nursing and the healthcare industry, evidence based practice, and
state and federal compliance and regulatory standards.
Knowledge of pediatric nursing staffing methods, retention,
recruitment, and finance.
Proven strategic-thinking, problem-solving and analytical
Possesses professional integrity and a candid, honest style that

Key Job Responsibilities Nursing Practice:
As a member of the Hospital's senior management team, the CNO
will partcipate in functional and operational decision-making
processes necessary to the successful attainment of the hospital's
mission in addition to leading nursing strategies that impact the
success of the hospital.
