Job Description:

Emergent Inpatient Services and Support (EISS) Intake representatives are non-clinical staff who support Inpatient Case managers (IPCMs) by requesting clinical and discharge information from facilities via call or fax on cases (both elective and urgent/emergent) that are due for review. If patient does not admit for a scheduled elective service the EISS Intake representative will make a call out to the requesting providers office to obtain a new date of service and update the authorization accordingly. The EISS Intake representatives are also responsible for processing Urgent/Emergent Inpatient & Observation authorization request received via fax. The Care Associate enhances the operational efficiency of the Health Facilitation Center and ensures customer satisfaction by providing accurate information to callers and by supporting the health services team. The Care Associate is expected to demonstrate effective communication through courtesy and professionalism in all interactions, both internally and externally. Major Duties Communicates professionally with customers, patients, healthcare providers, insurance community and specialists to provide and verify information, explain processes, and answer questions regarding products and services in a call center environment. Duties include but are not limited to the following: - Provide initial customer contact for incoming calls. Perform outbound calls to providers to obtain additional information needed to certify cases. - Access automated case system to open / document cases. Collect and provide data entry of case information. - Provide accurate information to callers based on an understanding of customer and service requirements. - Determine the course of action for each call based on pre-established guidelines. - May redirect or forward calls to more senior unit member or specialist - Perform certification using scripted guidelines. - Verify eligibility via claim system. Provide other specialty service reviews as appropriate under the supervision of clinical specialist - May provide support to the resource planning line and serve as a preceptor for new hires. - Perform general administrative duties (such as faxing and retrieving phone mail) assisting other team members as needed, and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications - High school diploma or GED - Excellent telecommunications and customer services skills - Prior experience in customer service role/operation. - Proven data entry skills - Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks appropriately. - Proficient knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office products - Working knowledge of automated systems/telephone systems - Able to work in a call center environment. 8-hour workday schedules are scheduled based on the call center hours of operation, 8 AM to 8 PM EST About Cigna Cigna Corporation (NYSE: CI) is a global health service company dedicated to improving the health, well-being and peace of mind of those we serve.
