Quince Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is looking to hire a full-time Speech Language Pathologist/ Assistant Director of Rehab to provide patient centered speech and language therapy for patients in our long-term care facility and to assist the DOR in Memphis, TN. A DAY IN THE LIFE A SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

As a Speech Therapist at a long-term care facility, you arrive each day happy to work for a practice that gives you the time and support to get real results for your patients. You love the collaborative spirit at Quince Nursing and Rehabilitation where you have ample opportunities to learn and develop into a better therapist. You use your knowledge of developmental factors specific to adult and geriatric residents to plan and deliver the best individualized care for each of your patients whether challenged with orthopedic issues, neurological diseases, or complex medical conditions.

You conduct patient evaluations and take the time to really understand their complaints and goals as you work on their individual treatment plans. Your attention to detail is essential to your success, as you keep up-to-date and accurate records. And, your collaborative skills come into play as you play an active role on each patient's interdisciplinary team. Using your good communication skills, you also take the time to thoroughly educate caregivers at the skilled nursing facility on how to assist patients with their individualized maintenance programs. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A SPEECH THERAPIST

  • Masters degree or higher from an accredited speech-language pathology program
  • Current speech language pathologist license
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation facilities

ASSITANT DIRECTOR OF REHAB

Under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, the Assistant Director of Rehabilitation supervises the Therapist(s), Therapy Assistant(s) and Rehabilitation Aide(s), and coordinates activities of the rehabilitation department with other departments.

Standard Requirements

  1. Supports the Mission, Values and Vision of the Facility. 2. Supports, cooperates with, and complies with specific procedures and programs for OSHA and safety, including safe work practices, established fire/safety/disaster plans, risk management and security. Reports and/or corrects unsafe working conditions, equipment and maintenance needs. 3. Adheres to: a. confidentiality of all data, including employee and operations data; b. HIPAA regulations; c. quality assurance and regulatory requirements; d. compliance with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from sexual harassment and illegal and discriminatory behavior; and e. compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance programs when performing job functions. 4. Supports and participates in common teamwork: a. cooperates and works together with all co-workers; b. plans and completes job duties with minimal supervisory direction, including appropriate judgment; c. uses tactful, appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations; d. follows up as appropriate with supervisor, co-workers and/or staff regarding reported complaints, problems and concerns; e. promotes positive relationships with the patients whom therapy serves. f. completes requirements for in-service training, acceptable attendance, dress codes including personal hygiene, and other work duties, as assigned; and g. participates, as assigned, in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful, and enthusiastic attitude. 5. Maintains therapy standards by participating in educational opportunities provided by the Facility, and by outside resources.

Qualifications

  1. Must possess strong knowledge regarding state, federal, and local regulations as they pertain to long-term care. 2. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations. 3. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.

Education/Training

  1. Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Speech / Language Pathology. 2. Must possess a current license in the state of current practice. 3. Speech Therapists are to maintain their ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence.
