If so, this could be the job for YOU!This job is primarily responsible for developing relationships with existing and prospective customers and carriers, analyzing needs, and aligning them with company transportation services. Responsibilities performed focus on carrier compliance, tracking, and customer service; all while developing and strengthening strategic customer and carrier this job, you will: Participate in safety initiatives, culture and journey to excellence; qualify carrier to meet strict safety and compliance standards and complete a minimum of one SOL per month. Insure paperwork is in place for your carriers and customers; any questions with procedures inform / ask your safety director or manager. Provide superior customer service; communicate in a professional and courteous manner with your customers and carriers; respond to and handle customer complaints properly. Dispatch shipments to carriers and monitor progress to ensure service requirements are adhered to. Negotiate transportation rates; closely follow market trends and seasonality of lanes and modes of transportation. Develop customer relationships to secure freight; via phone, internet, networking and other means. Develop carrier relationships to secure freight using pre-qualified carrier database or by posting to load boards. Utilize data derived from software systems in meaningful ways. Ensure all activities are compliant with industry laws and regulations. Confer with customers and coworkers to address questions, problems or requests for service. Determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required, according to work orders or specifications. Receive and prepare work orders, dispatch paperwork, and billing adjustments to contracts. Monitor driver location and utilization to coordinate service and schedules. Advise drivers about traffic problems, such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions or other hazards. Ensure timely and efficient movement of containers according to train orders and schedules. Maintain all insurance certificates and communicates to Risk Management. Ensure all carriers are current on requirements. Other duties as assigned.Here's what you'll need to be considered:EducationRequired - High school diploma or equivalent education and/or training.ExperienceRequired - Experience with flat bed, van and reefer.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of the industry. Knowledge and understanding of transportation management systems. Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization. Strong negotiation skills. Sound judgment, decision making, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to remain focused on exceptional customer service both internally and externally. Ability to follow direction and use logical thought process to interpret oral and written communications and recommend alternative solutions to mechanical problems. Ability to complete documentation requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Here's additional information you need to know:Physical Demands & RequirementsSedentary work.
