Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position
Hours: 11 PM to 7:30 AM
This position performs stat and routine clinical laboratory
testing consistent with written procedures under the direction of a
Laboratory Section Manager and/or the oversight of a Medical
Technologist. This position is also responsible for the
preparation, set-up and testing of specimens within the laboratory,
in order to ensure timely and accurate results to clients.
Microbiology position requires the ability to identify and report
bacteria, virus, parasites, fungus, or AF.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred and completion of an
AMA-approved Medical Laboratory Training Program.
Knowledge of laboratory procedures as normally acquired through
a minimum of six (6) months of laboratory experience preferred.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills required.
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Current TN licensure as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT).
Certification or eligible by ASCP or equivalent.
Work requires some physical effort. Frequent walking, sitting,
standing, typing, grasping, and twisting with both hands. Lifting
or performing other work requiring light physical exertion (up to
30 pounds) is required.
Work involves frequent exposure to unpleasant working conditions
or undesirable elements, may involve exposure to a variety or
elements which are potentially hazardous or harmful which require
exercise of well-defined precautions for protection from injury or
