SUMMARY
The Regulatory Affairs Associate is responsible for assisting with
ensuring compliance with multi-state, federal, and international
regulatory requirements related to chemicals, compounds, and
hazardous materials used, manufactured, and sold by the
company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to
perform each essential function of the job.
Stays abreast of country and state-specific legislation and ensures
that the company's manufactured products, formulations, and
labeling to reflect current regulations.
Assist with chemical classification; have or obtain knowledge of
general toxicological, ecotoxicological, health, physical or
industrial hygiene standards.
Provide guidance for domestic and international product
development, shipping, and special handling or storage requirements
of products and componentry, including HAZMAT materials.
Update and complete annual state and federal, product registrations
for house-branded and private label products, including brake
fluid, lubricants and chemicals, and HAZMAT materials.
Provide timely review and approval of product labeling for
regulatory compliance.
Maintain data within chemical management software system and
maintain the company's permit and registration database.
Develop Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for finished products for
customers following Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of
Classification and Labeling of Chemicals Standard.
Obtain technical information from suppliers.
Update SDSs from vendors and third party customer requirements
including WERCs registrations.
Ensures regulatory export documents are complete and accurate.
Collaborates with consultants and/or appropriate authorities to
gain understanding of regulations that are inaccurate, non-existent
or incomplete.
Identify and contribute to continuous improvement efforts to reduce
costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.
Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate
supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.
Adhere to established company values, practices, policies and
procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all
applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work
location.

of those problems.

Experience, Education, and Certifications
Bachelors' degree in a scientific or technical discipline with at
least 2 years employment experience in product compliance,
regulatory affairs, or quality systems, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience that demonstrates the
knowledge skills and abilities required.
Experience with applying shipping and hazardous materials aspects
49 CFR, IMDG Code and IATA desired.
Experience with SDS authoring highly desirable.
Experience using WERCS and/or HAZOX software highly desirable.

This is a desk-based job and will require the individual to remain
seated for long periods of time and have the manual dexterity to

Functions of the job.
The individual will work primarily in an office setting in the same
room as other individuals. Noise levels are average for an office
and include conversation and/or office equipment noise.
