Job Description:
KTG USA is a high-speed complex tissue manufacturing mill that
operates 24/7/365. The Boiler Operator position reports to the
Plant Utilities Supervisor and has the primary responsibility to
operate and maintain all manufacturing facility utility systems
including steam, condensate, compressed air, and water. Successful
candidates must possess a current 1st Class Steam Engineer License
from Shelby County Code Enforcement department and can expect to
earn competitive pay, great benefits, and free tissue products. The
Primary Duties listed below are routine functions of the Boiler
Operator in ensuring continuous, reliable operation of the mills
utility systems. This list of Primary Duties is not all inclusive
but should be used as a general overview of job requirements where
routine procedures and expectations have been defined. PRIMARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operating facility steam boilers and perform routine testing
and inspections including but not limited to water sampling, boiler
blow downs, etc.
- Operating facility air compressors and associated equipment to
supply dry, oil free air to facility
- Performing breakdown and routine maintenance on utility system
equipment such as boilers, air compressors, air dryers, etc.
- Continuously monitoring and obtaining daily utility meter
readings
- Monitoring water treatment plant operation daily
- Monitoring and operating condensate return system to ensure
efficient operation
- Checking turbine in boiler house penthouse on a daily basis
when operating
- Lubricating feed water and cooling water recirculation pumps (2
feed water pumps in boiler house and 1 recirculation pump in
courtyard west of compressor room)
- Maintaining a clean work environment
- Recognizing and reporting any out of the ordinary findings to
the Plant Utilities Supervisor
- Performing miscellaneous facility support activities as defined
by the Plant Utilities Supervisor HIRING REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have earned a High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug test, and
criminal background check
- Must possess a current 1st Class Steam Engineer License from
Shelby County Code Enforcement department
- Must complete and achieve required scoring levels on both the
ACT Work Keys and STM Mechanical Aptitude Assessment (both are
provided during the recruitment process)
- Have ability and willingness to:
- Lift up to 50lbs., climb ladders and stairs, work at heights,
and stand for continuous periods of time
- Work rotating 12hr shifts (two 12-hour days, two 12-hour
nights, then 4 days off) with available overtime and some
holidays
- Work in a hot, humid, noisy, and high-volume machine production
areaTHE BEST SUITED CANDIDATES WILL:
- Possess a record of stable employment - ideally 5 years
manufacturing experience and 2 years boiler operations experience
to include general utility maintenance experience
- Demonstrate ability to work through challenges in a fast-paced
team oriented environment
- Commit to safety and organizational goals
- Be comfortable using computers and associated software
- Practice and apply professional communication skills at all
times
- Display self-motivation and the ability to work with a sense of
urgency under minimal supervision
- Meet attendance expectations by coming to work when
scheduled
- Be mechanically inclined and capable of working on
equipment
