Job Description:
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES
It is the responsibility of the Fixed Income Strategist to take
ownership of all tasks and challenges that they encounter in the
operation of their assigned position. This position is responsible
for, but not limited to, using specialized knowledge and skills
obtained through education and experience to support the sales
force within Debt Capital Markets. The functions include working
closely with the fixed income sales force to meet the demands of
their institutional clients. This position will use the knowledge
of the fixed income market to help clients generate income,
preserve capital, and/or improve overall portfolio
diversification.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Works with Institutional Fixed Income Clients to identify and
assess investment needs and recommend suitable investment
strategies and solutions
- Develops balance sheet strategies and portfolio analytics for
institutional clients
- Uses analytical tools and methodologies to select fixed income
products for each client
- Collaborates with sales force by assisting in the development of
marketing materials and by participating in sales presentations as
appropriate
- Identifies trends in the fixed income market and implements
appropriate corrective action for clients
- From time to time prepares written explanations of economic,
regulatory, market-related and/or fixed income security-specific
information and analytics for sales to forward to clients and use
to develop relationships and establish dialogue with institutional
clients
- Assists with retention of existing accounts through periodic
meetings with clients
- Provides assistance and/or training in the Fixed Income Business
Unit
- Maintains compliance with MSRB, FINRA, and SEC regulations
- Ability to effectively prioritize team responsibilities and
manage multiple tasks in a changing environment within tight
deadlines on an ongoing basis
- Ensures that the Bank's policies and procedures, code of conduct,
and regulatory guidelines are strictly complied with
- Provides assistance to other employees by liaising with them
through healthy and positive interactions
- Be involved in performing marketing endeavors/efforts
- Continuously updates skills by participating in professional
training
- Seeks opportunities to improve skills through cross-training
offered by the Bank
- All other tasks, responsibilities, or duties, as directed by
management

COMPETENCIES
- Must have strong communication skills characterized by excellent
writing and speaking skills
- Proficient with general office machines and programs to include
Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software that
might be utilized in the department
- Ability to use the computer efficiently and the capacity to learn
new software programs as they are rolled out by the Bank
- Must have good knowledge of business English, including spelling
and punctuation
- Must possess basic English language skills to write and speak
clearly, and effectively with coworkers and customers
- Must be well-organized, accurate, and attentive to detail
- Must be cooperative and willing to assist coworkers and customers
on a regular basis
- Must have effective listening skills demonstrated by the ability
to listen to others talk (without interruption), understand them,
and then propose solutions or make contributions based on the
points made by others
- Must possess excellent multi-tasking skills and be able to
function well under pressure
- Must be able to remain composed under pressure and respond to
customer and coworker concerns regularly
- Must have a keen eye for detail and follow instructions to the
letter

while always maintaining a positive attitude
Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, or
related field
- Experience: Experience providing Fixed Income solutions for
institutional clients preferred
- Certifications/Specific Knowledge: Series 7 and 63 License or
successful completion within 90 days of hire; SIE required or
successful completion within 90 days of hire; Strong understanding
of macroeconomics and fixed income markets; Requires strong
knowledge of personal computer, Microsoft Office and other software
used in department; Must be able to prepare documents and compose
business letters and memorandums; Must have good knowledge of
business English, spelling and punctuation; Requires knowledge of
office practices, procedures, and general office machines
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES
Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position requires a large amount of time in front of a
computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the
right desk. Must be able to constantly enter data through or on a
computer or answer a phone throughout most of an eight (8) hour
shift. Must be able to walk frequently throughout the day. Must be
able to hear and communicate with coworkers and customers
throughout the day
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is in a private office. If telecommuting, there must
have a secure home office environment that is free from background
noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private
internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data
(hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements
are subject to change, as new systems and technology is
delivered.
TRAVEL
Travel may be required.
