Summary

The EKG Coordinator is responsible for providing education and training for rhythm services. Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the rhythm data management system and auditing the charge reconsolidation process for EKG procedures. Performs the duties of an EKG Tech III as required. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in MLH Mission, Vision and Values.

Credential/Licensure

REQUIRED:

High school graduate or equivalent required.

Minimum of five (5) years experience as an EKG Technician.

Certified Cardiographic Technician (through CCI) or Nationally Certified ECG Technician (Through NCCT).

Healthcare-provider CPR certified.

PREFERRED:

ACLS or PALS (pediatric) is strongly recommended.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Demonstrated competency in the specialty areas through successful completion of Arrhythmia Recognition series classes.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations commensurate with education.
• Ability to read and comprehend moderately complex written material, such as technical manuals commensurate with education.
• Ability to organize and complete tasks.
• Ability to communicate verbally with others, including patients and co-workers.
  Key Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for education and training for rhythm services.
  • Responsible for technical support, monitoring, and maintenance of the rhythm data management system.
  • Responsible for auditing and monitoring the charge reconciliation process for EKG procedures.
  • Performs duties of an EKG Tech III as required. Performs a variety of complex specialized tasks to perform EKG procedures.
  • Performs general administrative and cardiovascular functions in support of EKG operations.
    Physical Requirements
    • Exposure to patient body fluids.
    • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
    • Ability to read and write to communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
    • Normal vision, including color and peripheral vision.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., as well as push up to 150 lbs.
    • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, squat, kneel, reach, bend, and twist throughout shift.
    • Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions.
    • Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing as well as perform repetitive hand and wrist motion.
