Job Title: Network Cable Technician Duration: 3 Months Location:

no client interview required Position Overview: A Network Cable
Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and
troubleshooting network infrastructure and cabling systems. They
play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and
connectivity of computer networks within an organization. The
technician is expected to possess a strong understanding of network
protocols, cabling standards, and industry best practices. Key
Responsibilities: 1. Installation and Configuration: - Install,
terminate, and test network cables, including copper and fiber
optic cables, based on industry standards. - Configure and connect
network devices such as switches, routers, and access points. -
Install and mount equipment racks and cabinets for housing network
hardware. 2. Cable Management: - Organize and manage network cables
to ensure proper labeling, routing, and tidiness. - Use cable
management tools and techniques to minimize cable clutter and
maintain a clean and efficient network environment. - Document
cable runs, labeling schemes, and other relevant information for
future reference. 3. Network Troubleshooting: - Identify and
resolve network connectivity issues, such as cable faults, signal
degradation, or interference. - Use appropriate testing tools and
equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems. -
Collaborate with other IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex
network issues. 4. Network Infrastructure Maintenance: - Perform
routine inspections and preventive maintenance on network
infrastructure components. - Monitor network performance and
proactively address potential bottlenecks or performance issues. -
Keep up-to-date documentation of network infrastructure changes,
upgrades, and maintenance activities. 5. Compliance and Standards:
- Adhere to industry standards and regulations related to network
cabling, such as ANSI/TIA/EIA and BICSI guidelines. - Ensure
compliance with relevant safety guidelines and practices when
working with power and network equipment. 6. Collaboration and
Communication: - Coordinate with other IT personnel, including
network engineers, system administrators, and helpdesk technicians,
to support network operations. - Communicate effectively with
end-users to understand and resolve network-related issues. -
Collaborate with vendors or contractors for the installation or
maintenance of network infrastructure. 7. Training and
Documentation: - Provide training and guidance to end-users on
basic network troubleshooting and cable management best practices.
- Create and update technical documentation, including network
diagrams, cable maps, and standard operating procedures.
Requirements: - High school diploma or equivalent; additional
certifications or vocational training in network cabling are a
plus. - Proven experience in network cable installation,
termination, and testing. - Familiarity with industry standards and
best practices for network cabling, such as ANSI/TIA/EIA and BICSI.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, including Ethernet,
TCP/IP, and VLANs. - Proficiency in using network testing and
diagnostic tools, such as cable testers, certifiers, and OTDRs. -
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and
network diagrams. - Knowledge of network equipment, such as
switches, routers, and access points. - Excellent problem-solving
and troubleshooting skills. - Good physical dexterity and ability
to work in confined spaces or at heights when necessary. - Strong
attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
