The essential job responsibilities of the Electric Distribution Operator 1 are to monitor and control the multiple operations of the electric distribution system by use of the Computer-Aided Dispatch Electric System (CARES); responsible for maximizing system efficiency and minimizing service interruptions; coordinate departmental work with appropriate departments, contractors, customers and other external entities. Qualifications Qualification Requirements: To perform the Electric Distribution Operator 1 role, you must: -Have an Associate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology or high school diploma of General Education Development (G.E.D.) with 4 years of experience in craft/technical field related to the engineering, construction, maintenance or operation of the electric distribution or operations systems. -Have successfully completed Basic Electricity, Operator Placement Test and Color-Blind Test 2 -Successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job -Have basic knowledge of power systems -Successfully complete Electric Distribution Operator 1 Training Manual within one year of entering the job -Have a valid driver's license from state of residence Physical Working Conditions: Works in office under good conditions. Subject to sitting for long periods of time, during storms/outages, eye fatigue, hearing due to radio communications, bending, stooping/crouching to get maps, and light lifting of maps. Shift work required.
